THE AFTERNOON STROLL FROM WHITE BEACH TO DINIWID BEACH
Realizing
that we were trapped for hours within the confines of our hotel room, watching
television and activating social network accounts, we decided to move and heed
the call of exploration.
This
will be my first time to walk past Station 1 of the famed White Beach and
discover another beach of the island –Diniwid.
THE WHITE BEACH LANDMARK |
The
afternoon stroll at the White Beach is quite rewarding. Local fishermen transform themselves into
tour guides as paraws are prepared
for tourists wanting to experience sunset lying on the side nets of the sailing
boats. Then, there are Korean nationals
who care less of their footwear as they step on the sugary fine white sand of
the beach and took turns on taking photos of themselves. Kite surfers and skim boarders boast their
routines and depended on the mercy of the wind.
Their passion is overwhelming.
There are varied personalities and interest that converge and occupy the
long stretch of the white beach. That is
how White Beach registered in my senses.

DINIWID BEACH |
As
soon as the boundary of the White Beach and Diniwid Beach is reached, common
sightings are the fishing vessels and nets docked hanging on the limestone rock
formations. Local fishermen and the
neighborhood rested to have their fix of alcohol intake in the form of gin. They position themselves in a corner where
their business is uninterrupted. Indeed,
a perfect way to relax for the weekend.
The
stroll continues as we opted to settle at an in-house restaurant of a resort
for the sunset. The Spider House of Diniwid Beach
is our final destination for this afternoon stroll. The bamboo tree house is popular to foreign
tourists. Beer and food prices may be
quite expensive but the reward of a panoramic seascape augments it. Bottles of redhorse and a pizza comforted us as we sit at the edge of the tree
house with adjacent ladder to guide guests who wants to take a plunge on the
cyan waters of Diniwid Beach. Nestled on
a cliff, the choice of diving straight to the waters is a given.
I
was tempted to swim but the yearning to loiter, sit down and observe guests as
I feel the sea breeze was overpowering.
Night
time came and we have to go. The number
of guests increased as others came for dinner.
Relatively intoxicated, we called the day off and went back to Station 2
for our dinner.
