THE ROYAL EVENT AT TERENGGANU MALAYSIA: 10TH ANNIVERSARY OF SULTAN MIZAN ROYAL FOUNDATION
I
was of a self-imposed dilemma if I packed the right set of clothes for this
once-in-a-lifetime opportunity of having been invited for a royal event in
Malaysia. I should have brought my
everyday corporate attire at the very least or Barong Tagalog but I might be overdressed for the event. I settled for a casual attire and definitely
not on my tsinelas (slippers).
For
the Philippine delegation, I was with a good friend and a fellow Filipino
travel blogger, Edgar of eazytraveler.
THE KENYIR ELEPHANT VILLAGE |
The
Kenyir Elephant Conservation Village in Kenyir, Terengganu, Malaysia was in a
festive mood on the 1st of October 2015, as it becomes the venue for
the royal celebration. Colorful batiks worn by high officials of the
State of Terengganu as well as important guests and stakeholders were
prominently displayed at the area.

In
keeping with Malaysia’s campaign of integrating the ASEAN Nations, the theme
for the celebration was Exchange
Friendship & Network through ASEAN Art, Culture and Tourism
activities. The promotions of peace
and friendship through friendly business relations between Asean countries,
China and Japan is one of its specific purpose as well.
Booths
were positioned on the side of the dining area where ASEAN delegates showcase
their meticulous arts and crafts.
Unfortunately, there is no booth from the Philippines but there is a
delegation from Kunming, China. We opted
to roam around the booths before the event started.

Sultan Mizan Royal
Foundation (Yayasan Diraja Sultan Mizan) is a charitable organization officially
launched by His Royal Highness Sultan of Terengganu, Tuanku Mizan Zainal Abidin
and is a brainchild of the sultan with the latter concurrently playing the role
as founder, patron and chairman.
The
event was graced by His Royal Highness and it started with a tour of the
village facilities’. Noticeable are the
elephants being part of the welcoming committee as well.

THE STAGE |
The
program was brief but worthwhile. There
were cultural performances in the form of dance presentations, presentation of
gifts from other ASEAN ambassadors or representatives and the symbolic donation
of the Sultan to the Elephant Conservation Village.

The
celebration ended with a festive lunch.
Living up to its theme, I am grateful I have met new friends from
neighboring Southeast Asian countries during the event.
Years
ago, I have conditioned myself to be a Foreign Service Officer after I got my
CPA-Lawyer license, and particularly embracing that banquets and royal events
would be an indispensable activity, but time constraints and priorities made me
accept that it will not happen. I am
lazy to do my review anytime soon.
The
opportunity of being able to attend the 10th Anniversary of the
Sultan Mizan Royal Foundation nevertheless is truly an honor and that I get to
attend a royal event sans the FSO license.
Special
thanks to Tourism Terengganu, Sultan Mizan Royal Foundation and media
coordinator, Gaya Travel Magazine Malaysia for making this trip possible.

For successful corporate events, the first step is to find an appropriate venue. You need to find a place where there is proper breakfast or lunch can be arranged. And it is wise to shortlist a couple of corporate party ideas before finalizing the best one.
