MAKATI CITY | TERRAZ BISTRO AND MEETINGS
A
year ago, I had a meeting with a client whose office address is at Zuellig, the tall prominent glass
building at the corner of Paseo de Roxas and Makati Avenue. It was a working lunch at a restaurant and all
I could recall is the fact that I felt sleepy after the sumptuous meal. That was how I was satisfied of the meal.
This
year, along with my constant weekend travel buddies, we were seated for dinner on
the same restaurant not for a business meeting but simply to feast on the
gastronomic offerings of the Terraz
Bistro and Meetings Restaurant.
A
group of young ladies all dressed in black with the exception of one dressed in
red easily caught my attention as we enter the spacious restaurant. They are celebrating the natal day of the
lady dressed in red (quite obvious).
Each one in the restaurant came with a purpose, others were gathered
perhaps for a reunion and on one corner a couple having their casual
(romantic?) dinner. And there we were
gathered casually for the groups’ reserved dinner.
The
busy traffic and skyscrapers of the city is visible from the restaurants’
vantage. But the fast-paced life of the
metro that surrounds does not affect the exclusivity and casual dining at the
restaurant. Time stands still.
THE INTERIORS |
Top
quality dishes are prepared at an open-air kitchen that is positioned at the
middle. The modern comfort cuisine is
available for lunch, dinner and cocktails with tapas and sangrias at
hand to conclude any guests’ busy day.
Offerings
are of international standards as they cater to expatriates who works on the
Zuellig Building and businessmen in search of location for closing deals and
other matters for discussion.
The
serving size is quite generous, which means for diet purposes, each dish will
be shared by the group. And what did we
have for dinner?
The Terraz
Chef Salad was first served made of romaine lettuce, Red Wine, Hard
Boiled Egg, Crispy Parma Ham, Grilled Bacon, Roast Beef in light salt and
pepper vinaigrette and ranch dressing.

The Sesame
Crusted Ahi Tuna is a must-try.
It is a pan-seared Ahi Tuna with romaine lettuce, sliced Japanese
cucumber, vine cherry tomato in sesame dressing.

As
the main courses landed on our long table, there was confusion as to what eat
first. All meal presentations were
gastronomically appealing. The Buttered
Tilapia Saltimbocca served with vegetable pilaf, asparagus, sage tomato
sauce and grain creamy mustard sauce is I guess everyone’s favorite. It was consumed immediately and so another
order was placed.

Being
the lover of chicken that I am, the Pan Seared Boneless Chicken Cream Emince
with side dish baked potato, peppered asparagus and creamy mushroom and the
Truffled
Herbed Chicken & Creamy Mushroom that is, marinated grilled chicken
breast with three kinds of mushroom and red wine sauce, were the closest to my
plate. I am uncertain if I consumed it
the most in the group.

There’s
a dish that I find unique on the menu and it tastes good. It is the Grilled
Bacon Wrapped Pork Medallion & Foie Gras served with Macaire
Potato, Sautéed Vegetables, Mushroom Ragout and Merlot Sauce. Pork wrapped in bacon, how about that?

The Spicy
Terraz Corned Beef Adobo with garlic pumpkin, sweet mashed potato and
crispy kesong puti may be good for breakfast.

And
the restaurant serves pastas as well, with its best-seller Simple Saffron Spaghetti, that
is, a home-made spaghetti pasta with fresh spinach and smoked grilled asparagus
as our sampler.

For
a complete dining experience, the Pavlovaz, (more like a fruit salad
for me), and the Crepe Samurai filled with mango and
banana and served with caramel sauce and cinnamon sugar were served as finale.

Apart
from the dining experience in this 117-seater bistro, Terraz also provides 6
well-appointed conference rooms. It is
conducive to hold social events, corporate meetings and conferences on the
meeting rooms available.
The
taste test at Terraz actually became a feast.
That is how delectable their offerings are.
