AYALA TRIANGLE GARDENS MAKATI CITY | SIMPLÉ LANG RESTAURANT
I
have been a corporate slave in Makati City for quite some time. The towering landmark of skyscrapers,
shopping malls and luxurious hotels constitute its necessary façade. Through time, remarkable restaurants dot the
main thoroughfares of the city and became an instant place for business
meetings and gathering with family and friends.
A
walking distance from where I have worked for a number of years, aligned
restaurants sprout. At the center of the
Ayala Business District, an open space named the Ayala Triangle to be specific,
sits a restaurant giving the impression of fine dining. Simplé Lang (pronounced as sim-pley lang)
is our rendezvous for the weekend.
THE FACADE |
For
two consecutive days, we had our afternoon snacks at the said restaurant and a
heavy downpour was an inevitable backdrop.
Fortunately, Filipino dishes apt for the weather condition were served to
console us. Menu is quite
innovative. Pansit tinola for instance, which makes every diner curious
including myself.
Modernized
local favorites is what the restaurant offers - definitely good food simplified
matched by reasonable prices. I had no
personal favorite at this restaurant as everything served are equally good and
delectable.
It
may appear not simplified as the location and type of diners may intimidate you
but once you get hold of the style, you’ll learn it suits all classes. Everything served is familiar.
On
our first day, in time for the rainy special of the restaurant (it was really
raining hard when we arrived), we sampled on Batchoy Yan garnished
with tripe, liver, chicharon and egg;
Crispy
Palabok topped with bagnet, shrimp,
tinapa bits and egg; Hot
Ginataang Bilo-Bilo; Simpleng Arroz Caldo with spicy dilis, kimchi, tofu, bicho, crispy chili garlic and calamansi;
and Turon Bites made of saba, toasted sesame and condensed milk.

THE BEST PANSIT PALABOK |
The
following day on almost the same time, we went back and tried other
best-sellers of the restaurant. The long
table was graced by Ilocos Style Sisig Empanada with papaya, salted egg and sukang
Ilocos; Fresh Lumpia Rolls with muscovado sauce, garlic, and
sesame peanut sprinkle; the sampler of #Tusoktusok comprising of fishballs,
kikiam, chicken skin, crispy pork tenga, squid
balls with sweet and spicy dip; the Pansit Tinola topped with Hainan
style chicken and fried sili leaves; Simpleng Arroz Caldo once
again; Totoong Tokwa’t Baboy and Simple Lang Halo-Halo.

SINIGANG SA PAKWAN AS AN ADDED TREAT |
The
restaurant is quite spacious adorned by cozy and bright lighting fixtures of a
high ceiling and glass walls that speak of social media-friendly captions. Interior design is simple yet elegant. A wooden staircase leads guests to the second
floor for a more exclusive treat. For
those who intend al fresco dining, there are seats available as well at the
front of the restaurant.
THE INTERIORS |
The
continuous heavy downpour never dampened our spirits for hours of chatting and
people-watching while dining. The
comforts of the restaurant and the vibe it emits is truly homey and relaxing.
Quality
of service is excellent as well that sets of dish ordered came swiftly. Nil wasted time for waiting. Waiting staff are also attentive to the needs
and concerns of guests.
With
witty names of dish offered as menu, Simplé Lang makes the favorite Filipino cuisine elegantly presented and served
their way without compromising how it is known and palatable to a common
Filipino.
