ST. GILES HOTEL: AT THE CORE OF MAJOR BUSINESS AND CULTURAL HUB
Neon lights flash on each corner.
The fusion of pub crawlers and corporate slaves is inevitable. One weekend lead us to Metro Manila’s vibrant
central business district, specifically at Makati Avenue. From the busy and chaotic area that surrounds,
there is a comfortable oasis in the name of St. Giles Hotel.
The overnight stay’s intention was simply to relax sans the night
parties and drinking sprees. But the
latter is irresistible. The alternatives of a venue for a drinking spree is broad,
as all those are just a door step from the hotel. And so a short spree commenced.
The glass-walled hotel situated at the corner of Makati Avenue and
Kalayaan Avenue has an interesting façade.
It is a landmark in itself when in Makati City. Entering the reception area, the bell boy and
the security guard is quick enough to assist guests of their luggage. In my case, even the opening of the car that
drops you off the entrance door became their instant duty.
In no time, the key card was handed over to me and with security
features on access to elevators, I was ushered to my assigned room.
DELUXE TWIN-BED ROOM
St. Giles Makati has 512 elegantly designed guestrooms. Contemporary furnishings with light neutral
tones embellish the room. We were
assigned to a twin-bed room that comes with broadband internet access, LCD TV
with satellite channel, electronic safe, long bath and shower, coffee/tea
facilities. Complimentary toiletries and
a spacious bathroom with bath tub facility is one of the standout features of
the room.
The room may appear simple but it is indeed comfortable. With blackout curtains, we could sleep for
more hours without noticing it’s already late in the afternoon.

AMENITIES
Other amenities provided are wifi in public areas, swimming pool,
gymnasium, laundry and dry cleaning service, baby-sitting service, private
parking, limousine and tour service and foreign currency exchange.
The rooftop bar and indoor pool with a panoramic view of the city
skyscrapers that surround would have been a good idea at night. But we opted to lounge on a nearby bar and
instead visited the roof top before we checked out in the afternoon. It indeed provides a good unobstructed
vantage for a panoramic view of the city.
For corporate market, the hotel has three function rooms situated at
Level 5, which can accommodate from 20 to 100 persons. The hotel’s team of dedicated and experienced
personnel will always be on hand to ensure that everything goes as planned.
BAY LEAF RESTAURANT AND LOUNGE
Mornings at the hotel is a feast of delectable meals with an open
kitchen. The in-house restaurant is
situated at Level 2 serving a fusion of Filipino, Asian and Western
cuisine. We had our complimentary breakfast
at the said restaurant and providing a relaxing ambiance, we actually lounged
for hours until it was time for lunch and for check-out.
