A NIGHT OF UNLIMITED BEER, RIBS AND TRADITIONAL KECAK
After the whole day adventure
in the island of Bali, exhaustion follows. Fortunately, we were comforted for
the night over bottles of unlimited local beers complemented by the
eat-all-you-can baby back ribs and a showcase of local talents as an
entertainment.
We were at Moonlite Kitchen
and Bar of Anantara Seminyak Bali Resort, Indonesia.
Serving contemporary Asian
cuisine, Moonlite Kitchen and Bar provides both a scenic and romantic
atmosphere. Facing the beachfront and
situated at the roof deck of the hotel, it has the perfect vantage for a sunset
viewing.
We were warmly welcomed by a
friend who works at the resort and ushered us to our reserved seats. It was such a comfort that we were seated
right in front of a space that would serve as a stage for the traditional Kecak dance performance. It was part of the Full Moon celebration.
FOOD AND SERVICE
The eat all you can baby
back ribs and unlimited beer of our choice (available from 5PM to 11PM) made
the night even more relaxing. Service
was fast and efficient. The waiting
staff were likewise attentive.
Apart from the ribs and beer
promo, we also indulged ourselves with the restaurant’s version of laksa.
I kind of love the not so spicy (tolerable) curry coconut milk in
it. For lovers of this rice noodle dish,
I would highly recommend to have a taste of the restaurants’ version.
ENTERTAINMENT
The daily entertainment at
the said restaurant is a lively music at night.
Fortunate for our group and in celebration of the full moon in Bali, we
were able to witness the traditional kecak
dance performance.
This Balinese dance and
music drama usually comes with a fee when witnessed at temples (like Uluwatu
Temple) and other designated places. But
for us, it becomes a part of the dining experience.
The kecak is performed primarily by men and in a circle of at least 150
performers wearing checked cloth around their waist, chanting and moving their
arms and hands. The dance movements
resembles that of an exorcism dance.
Though I wasn’t able to
fully comprehend the storyline of the presentation, it was entertaining though
and another worthy experience while in Bali.
Accidentally, the night became an instant cultural immersion.
INTERIORS
The cozy atmosphere even more enhanced our dining mood while at Moonlite Kitchen and Bar. As usual, we were the last ones to leave the restaurant. And after a number of bottles of beer consumed, it was the perfect last item in the itinerary for the day giving us a good and relaxed sleep for the night.
