THE 5-STAR EXPERIENCE AT THE SHERATON IMPERIAL KUALA LUMPUR HOTEL
It was a decision made in an
instant. I was prepared to let go of my
confirmed tickets to Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia.
But then again, my instincts tell me this is going to be a relaxed trip.
In a not so good weather
where turbulence is the constant pace, I arrived in Kuala Lumpur at around 10
in the evening. My travel buddies were
already checked-in on what will be a luxurious stay for the group, in a 5-star
hotel named Sheraton Imperial Kuala
Lumpur Hotel.
A 2-3 minute-walk from the
hotel, there is a monorail station. The
hotel sits in the middle of the buzzling city providing a seamless access to
the known landmarks and shopping centers of Kuala Lumpur.
THE ROOMS
We were assigned at the
Executive Club Floor, pampering ourselves like royalties and business
executives, contrary to the backpacking style (or “semi-backpacker” as some of
my friends would point out) that we are accustomed to.
Alone again, for 3 days and
2 nights, I settled at a Sheraton Club room with one king-sized bed while my
travel buddies in a Sheraton Club Suite.
My room was indeed spacious (for one) that I can bring along my whole
family with me and even hold nightly parties with friends. I was truly relaxed in the comforts of my
assigned suite.
The stylish décor and
furnishings in avocado and mandarin tones even enhanced the mood for a rejuvenating
stay. In all aspects, it was a luxurious
stay indeed. The city skyline was my daily
view and it was such a refreshing treat to start and end my daily routine.
The oversized pillow and the
soft and expensive linens provided has given me the quality and good sleep I
long for.
The room comes with a
complimentary high speed internet access,40” LCD Flat screen TV, walk-in
closet, oversized writing desk, personal computer outlet, multi-function phone
with IDD phone line, in-room hospitality port, upgraded bath amenities, six
bottles of water per day.
I had an overload of water bottles
daily and become handy when we roam around the city. Every day, there are complimentary fruits and desserts as
well served on the side table. Service
was personalized.
The bathroom like the room
itself is likewise spacious, featuring marble countertops, lighted mirrors,
spacious bathtub, a separate shower and toilet and a telephone and of course
the range of complimentary toiletries.
SHERATON CLUB LOUNGE
As a club level room guest,
we were fortunate to have been given access to the Sheraton Club Lounge. As an executive lounge, it served as our work
station. And while working and gazing
through the glass window, the iconic KL Tower and the busy thoroughfare was a
pleasant treat to our eyes and our cameras.
It rains in the city every
afternoon. The all-day (6:30AM to 11PM)
complimentary coffee, tea and cold beverages and the snacks served was such a
comfort, that we would just lounge and do our work at the area during those
times. We have been in Kuala Lumpur for
so many times, thus, we had a relaxed itinerary and it could even border to a
business trip.
The evening cocktails and
hors d’oeuvres (5PM to 8PM) served as a way of pampering ourselves as well
after the day’s itinerary. I may have
lost track of the glass of chardonnay I have consumed yet I was really happy
and satisfied.
ESSENCE RESTAURANT
We do have a choice to have
our complimentary breakfast at the Sheraton Club Lounge, but offerings of a
unique culinary concept is offered at one of the hotel’s dining areas, the
Essence, located at Level 1.
It was a live kitchen
experience where offerings range from traditional Malay, Asian, Chinese and
Western cuisine. I particularly liked
the service of the waiting staff – efficient and fitting for a 5-star hotel
experience. There are times they would
advise us of what to get for breakfast not only because these are house specialties
but they discern the same to be soothing to our palate.
INTERIORS AND SERVICE
Most often than not, a hotel’s
reception/lobby area carries the perception of what a hotel’s star rating is or
the type of service you would expect.
The grand staircase and the
intricate details of the hotel’s interior design over-all impressed me. The Malay carvings with Chinese finishes
complemented with a modern interior design was more than sufficient to impress
upon me that a 5-star hotel experience is what we shall get. And it did so.
