Winter in Venice is a picturesque backdrop of gondolas, blue skies and running clear waters, where merrymakers entertain and spectators stood at awe. White Christmas is elusive to me. This season, it has been given to me in the form of a visit to the Venetian Casino Hotel of Macau, China.
Devoid of snowflakes, the
cold winter breeze that blankets and landscape mimicking a village drenched in
snow suffices (as of now) for a winter experience in Venice.
The Venetian Casino Hotel is
the world’s largest casino that caters to all visitors not only the
gamblers. The free world-class
entertainment that it offers not to mention the architectural landscape of the
façade and interiors is more than enough reason to visit the hotel.
I have never been to Venice. But I am certain that this hotel gives us a
peek of what Venice’ landscape is defined.
The Venetian Casino Hotel’s theme for this season is aptly called Winter in Venice.
From the Macau International
Airport, we went straight to the Venetian Hotel onboard the free shuttle
bus. Apart from the shops of famed
trademarks, sculptures and ceilings of European-inspired creations made a good
introduction at the reception lobby of the hotel. (click to check rates of hotel)
After a few minutes, we roamed around to search for a place to dine. The food court is akin to dining al fresco along the street pavements under the clear blue skies. It was refreshing sans the number of diners. There is a variety of cuisine to choose from.
Night time came and the showcase of 3D lights and sounds at the hotel’s façade became an instant center stage. There were performers introduced from across the globe displaying their stunts and routines like a circus on a carnival but this time is not an ordinary theater stage as Venetian Hotel being the venue is incomparable, truly, world class.
I stood in one corner as I
gaze the colorful lights covering the hotel’s façade. The shutter speed and the long exposure
feature of my camera would do no justice for a complete picture of what has
happened. It was surreal.
Winter in Venice at the Venetian Hotel is on its third year. The artificial snowfall and the snowy
wonderland with a 50-foot Christmas tree as backdrop, is a dream come true for
those dreaming of a White Christmas, such as myself.
This is another winter experience for my family that I highly recommend for other families to experience as well – a quality time spent on a destination we can dream of.
