It was a one-year in the making plan for a grand family vacation to coincide with the wedding of my brother in Cebu City. But even on the last minute, our extended stay in Cebu City is uncertain. We are destined for impromptu bookings and planning after all. Our family trips are done at the last weekend of the year until the New Year. We all live separately and independently from one another and even miles, cities and countries apart. Vacations abroad are the only time that we get together.
For this mid-year, we will be going to Seoul, South Korea. But before that, a one of a kind and
memorable stay in Cebu is in order. And

About six kilometers from the Mactan International Airport is

THE DINING EXPERIENCE
Aside from comfort and ambiance, the hotel is known in the
island as destination for gourmands in search of a unique and memorable dining
experience. The Sails dining restaurant
is situated near the reception area and the lobby, where our complimentary breakfast
is served and where we usually dine for lunch or dinner in our 3 days 2 nights
stay. The huge discount offered to visa
card holders is one of their standout points.
From the name of the in-house restaurant, it’s like sailing from coast
to coast, with their selection of cuisine that span a variety of cultures,
heritages and cooking philosophies from across the globe.
And there are three other in-house restaurants offering equally
stunning gastronomic experience.
Each of the four food and beverage outlets delights diners with
its own selection of savoury and classic dishes, inspired by flavours from the
East and West. A stunning architecture
with spectacular ocean views, Ibiza Beach Club is the hotel’s signature dining
and entertainment space that offers authentic Balearic-inspired, signature
15-course grill and Mediterranean tapas.
And the night façade is amazing as well.
We get to dine under the stars, while watching exciting performances of
Latin, Brazilian, Broadwar, movie musical, pop and retro-themed dance numbers.
The Lobby Lounge is an open space where people meet and
socialize over coffee and tea.
The adjacent Forum features indoor and poolside lounges, where
guests can order light snacks, bar chows and tropical sips, alongside liquors and
whiskey.
THE MOVENPICK FAMILY PROGRAMME
It was but fitting that our family get to experience the pampering of the hotel at its’ finest, through
its recently launched global program, “the Movenpick Family”.
The new Family Programme, available in all Movenpick properties
worldwide, as well as in Movenpick Hotel Mactan Island Cebu, focuses on what is
really important for parents, providing baby essentials; ensuring there are fun
healthy menus for children; offering family services such as kids’ TV channels
or babysitters and providing opportunities to share unique local activities and
enjoying special family room discounts.
Apart from our family, my cousin from the United Kingdom also
checked-in together with her family and was likewise offered special family
room discounts.
As part of the Program, we were offered complimentary ‘on-demand
baby essentials’ service for my niece which includes, strollers, bottle
warmers, baby baths, toilet rings, portable cots, child-proof electric plugs
and everything in between. Healthy and
nutritious menus designed to inspire fun food experiences were likewise
provided.
ROOMS
We were booked on a Suite Ocean View with 2 bedrooms. It was indeed spacious with an area of 99
sqm. The rooms have one king and twin
beds, respectively, which can accommodate up to 4 adults and 2 children.
The ocean view from the balcony is a relaxing corner and the
best vantage. Apart from the ocean, the
stylish and huge swimming pool, the white sand private beach and the Ibiza Club
comes into view as a treat.
The hotel’s 245 contemporary-styled guest rooms and suites are
bathed in natural light, with the best vantage of the Mactan Island. It offers the upmost comfort and facilities
including LED television, complimentary wifi, separate bathtub and shower and
fully-stocked mini-bar.

OTHER AMENITIES
Despite the distance of the hotel to the city center of Cebu, the
stay at Movenpick Resort is a one-stop shop and a complete
vacation package in itself. Guests can
experience barefoot elegance with a drink in one hand and toes in the sand.
Guests would not be able to resist hitting the water, be it on
the well-maintained pool or the white-sand private beach. Kids and adults alike can enjoy the arts and
crafts activities, as well as fitness classes in the beach garden. Water sports activities and facilities such
as parasailing, jet ski and the likes are also available. For indoors, the hotel offers a game area,
complete with a pool table, chess board, Xbox and table tennis. And for the happy hour at Ibiza Beach Club,
guests are able to listen to sunset beats as they sip a cocktail and relax on
the net pods.
Truly, it was one unforgettable experience for the family and a
relaxing one at that. It was a fun way
of making memories as a family.
