Unaccounted cans of beer and shared stories.  I look into the horizon and stared blankly as the skies transform in orange hues to total darkness.  After the golden sunset made its appearance, the melodramatic me surfaced.

The cruise was more than just a shared meal, a dinner to be specific. It was a fleeting yet memorable experience.  Limestone karst, a snorkelling and swimming area and at times colourful fishing vessels came in as an inevitable view cruising the straits between Dayang Bunting and the Tuba Islands, as well as some panoramic southern islands.

Onboard the luxurious 55-foot two-tier Sea Falcon catamaran of Naam Sports, where our parasailing activity was booked, I knew this would be another worthwhile experience.  A briefing from a Filipino staff commenced after we left our footwear at the entrance door and proceed to the open-air top deck bar.

An open bar greeted us with a lively music every guest was enjoying at the moment.  As soon as the engine started, the smooth sailing party began.    A couple on their retirement age, a family treated by their daughter who married an Indian national and settled in Langkawi and a group of Korean and Chinese tourists on their 20s were among those boarded in this party boat.  It was easy to converse with anyone onboard with the common denominator of travel and love for adventure.

The free-flowing drinks, both alcoholic and non (softdrinks)is a perfect treat for the guests.  In our case, we decided to stay at the lower deck next to the lounge and dining area, specifically at the bow of a catamaran for an unobstructed view of the picturesque sea.

On a designated swimming area, the boat stopped for some guests to plunge into the waters.  After which, buffet dinner was served while wine and beer continue to grace our table.  It was all worth it. Grilled cuisine was its offering which is apt while at the beach though equally enjoyable while floating at sea.

I actually have motion sickness and seldom can tolerate being on the sea for hours.  But this 3-hour sunset cruise was smooth sailing that I enjoyed every moment of it, except when intoxication was about to kick in on the last minutes.

When the highlight of the cruise sets in, I was amazed.  The sunset was truly a sight to behold as we witnessed the skies change to purple and hues of orange while being treated to cans of beer and at times a sip on glass of red wines.

On the course of the voyage, we were able to interact with the crew of the boat and even officers of the company.  Their positive vibe is contagious.  It is no wonder why guests will put up a smile and enjoy every second while on the cruise, as the crew themselves provided an atmosphere of comfort and happiness.  They truly enjoy what they are doing and so do we.

The dinner cruise may be quite pricey (RM280.00 each) and fitted for a luxurious lifestyle.  But it may be one way of getting acquainted with the natural beauty of Langkawi disregarding cost at times.
