LAST MINUTE PAMPERING AT CENTURY LANGKASUKA RESORT
Scheduled to depart in the
afternoon bound for Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia then back to Manila, we dropped by
the sister resort of Century Langkawi Beach Resort that is a kilometer-away
from the Langkawi International Airport.
We had a scheduled spa
treatment hours before my flight. But
the spa treatment became just one of the activities we are to indulge ourselves
into.
While being ushered to the
spa center, noticeable is the infinity pool, which is an outstanding feature of
the hotel, not only in terms of aesthetics and design but also of hospitality
service. Perfectly situated at the
center of the hotel’s inner courtyard, guests can enjoy sunset viewing and an
easy access to other amenities, such as the spa and the in-house restaurant.
Since I had a flight to
catch, it was unfortunate that I wasn’t able to plunge into the waters of the
infinity pool. My friends did though while they wait for their turn since I was
scheduled first to enter the spa center for the treatment.
SPA TREATMENT
Six types of services are
being offered, that is: Malay Traditional Mat Mon Massage, Balinese Massage,
Back & Shoulder Massage, Reflexology, Body Massage and Bath and the
Signature Healing Massage, which I have availed.
The treatment lasted for 60
minutes and for half of it I snoozed.
The Signature Healing Massage is a soothing and gentle massage that
allows the healing properties of the natural warm oils to penetrate into the
skin leaving the guests relaxed and with a sense of pleasure.
Specially blended oils are
likewise used depending on guests’ choice using a combination of strokes and
acupressure technique. For RM186, the experience
was definitely worthy.
RESTAURANT
For lunch, we converged at
the hotel’s in-house restaurant to feast on their specialties. Mocktails was first in line in the name of Langkawi’s Tropical Punch (RM18), in my
case. The mocktail is a concoction made of pineapple, mango and orange juice
with grenadine. It was a nice refresher apt for an ambiance facing an infinity
pool enveloped by the summer breeze.
Sarawak black peppercorns is
famous on all corners of the world. With
that being said, the hotel’s restaurant offers a cuisine where we get to try
the Sarawak pepper. We ordered the Sarawak black pepper beef pizza (RM36). When asked if more pepper will be sprinkled
on our pizza, we gladly nodded. And the
taste? Good! Mozzarella cheese and beef tender cubes complemented well with the
black pepper, not to mention that it’s not oily like other Italian pizzas. And
of course, I have to discard the chopped bell pepper, simply because I’m not
used to eating such.
In another Sarawak cuisine,
we ordered the Sarawak laksa (RM30). I actually began to like laksa when the three of us tried one in
Kota Kinabalu, Malaysia. The locals say
it’s the best version they have. And it
didn’t disappoint. Singaporean laksa is
actually good too. I can tolerate spiciness and my endless perspiration when
the food is worth the try. Century
Langkasuka’s Sarawak laksa is no different. Prawn is incontestably my favorite. This peppery broth with vermicelli noodles
and prawn of Sarawak version is easy to love as well.
One of my travel buddies is
fond of noodles – of whatever type that is.
It is a default order. It is no
wonder then that in our quest to try out local cuisine, we had Foochow Noodles (RM30) in the
table. In this wok fried egg noodles
that is accompanied with prawn and steamed chicken, I say the standout is the
sauce, not to mention that I am for chicken.
The local version of deep fried crispy chicken wings served with
sweet chili sauce (RM30) is a no-brainer order for our group. It is an all-time favourite.
While my friends are into
local cuisine, I insisted that we try one of the restaurants main dish, the Grilled Australian Striploin (RM78). For
lack of words to describe, the tender meat is simply delicious. The
dish is served with a choice of either a mashed potato or French fries. I opted for the latter. It comes with grilled tomato and sautéed wild
mushroom and a black pepper sauce.
With the different sets of
cuisine that we have ordered, I am now ready to depart full and satisfied,
leaving my friends temporarily, as I’ll see them again in Thailand.
It was a great send-off indeed
– to be pampered for the last minutes before departure at one of the premier
hotels of Langkawi Island.
