THE SANTORINI-INSPIRED ESTANCIA RESORT HOTEL TAGAYTAY CITY
For two consecutive weekends in the cold December of 2015, I was in Tagaytay City, and that was for two separate special occasions, one for the wedding of my childhood friend and second, for a gathering of my closest travel buddies.
For
both special occasions, the Estancia Resort Hotel served as my transient abode
and a perfect sanctuary to bond with my childhood friends and travel buddies.
The
Greek-inspired façade of the Estancia Resort Hotel situated along the main
thoroughfare of Tagaytay City and enroute to the People’s Park makes it a good
choice for an accommodation.
The Perfect Location
It
is a given that most visitors of the hotel are from Metro Manila trying to
escape the traffic congestion and the humidity.
Nestled on a cool tropical climate of a sloping terrain, the hotel is
about 60 kilometers or one and a half hours drive from Makati. It is situated at Brgy. San Jose, less than a
kilometer from the Tagaytay rotunda or one and half kilometers from the city
market coming from Sta. Rosa, Laguna.
One
of the main reasons why Tagaytay City is visited is for guests to be able to
have a peek of the Taal Lake and Volcano and obtain the much needed rest and
relaxation away from the city’s noise and pollution. Both purpose can be obtained at the Estancia
Resort Hotel.
For
those without private vehicle, commuting is likewise easy. At Buendia (Gil Puyat LRT Station), there is
a DLTB Bus Terminal en route to Nasugbu (fare of PhP83.00) and instruct the
conductor that you be dropped off at Olivarez Terminal. At the terminal, ride the jeepney (PhP8.00
fare) bound for People’s Park and inform the driver beforehand that you will
alight at the Estancia Resort Hotel.
My Rooms
Deluxe
Weddings
indeed are the best venue for reunions and my first stay at the Estancia Resort
Hotel served its purpose. I shared the room
with my childhood friends. I was
assigned to a deluxe room just beside one of the hotels’ indoor swimming
pool.
Basic
room amenities and complimentary toiletries were provided. The
interior design may be quite old-fashioned with plain colors, but the veranda
makes up for it providing a rejuvenating view of the vast property of the
hotel. At night, the veranda transforms
into a mini bar, where we share stories over bottles of beer. The ambiance was a perfect retreat.
The Santorini
Cluster
There’s more to the façade that we should experience at Estancia Resort Hotel. Fortunate enough, there were available rooms for us to stay at the Santorini cluster. We were booked on individual rooms which makes the experience exclusive. Though for the night and to celebrate the birthday of one of our friends, Kirk, we converged on my room. It was one of the memorable staycations we had.
The spacious room was more than sufficient for our affairs. Each room has two beds and a veranda. The LCD TV also served its purpose well for the duration of our stay. We stayed at one of the rooms at times to watch local films and share reviews, claiming we’re individually movie experts in our right.
The
Santorini cluster is indeed perfect for family and friends. The simple interior has a relaxing vibe that
we almost did not go out of our rooms but simply loiter within the vicinity,
hopping from one room to another.
Surprisingly,
the property is indeed vast that walking becomes an involuntary exercise. But for complete comfort and convenience,
especially if luggage is in tow, there are battery-operated golf carts that
will take guests to the Santorini cluster, situated at the far end of the
hotel.
Breakfast
A
luxury hotel has always been associated with breakfast buffets. But the Estancia Resort Hotel serves
otherwise – a la carte. Menu however
offers the city’s specialty and usual Filipino and Western favorites for
breakfast that craving for buffet would be gluttony.
I
had the usual tapsilog as my meal and
one meal set that caught my attention is the biya. Biya is a type of fish (goby fish) that is abundant at Taal
Lake. It was served dried and very much
like the danggit of Cebu.
The
cozy ambiance of the dining hall which is next to the reception area also adds
up to the satisfying dining experience at the hotel. A view of the Taal Volcano and the lake can
likewise be made through a peek at the glass windows that surround the dining
area. Painted in white and decorated at
its simplest terms, it truly feels rejuvenating.
Service
Service
is outstanding. Noticeable are the
number of trainees at the dining hall but whatever the designation, they do deliver
efficiently. With the courteous presence
and hospitality they provide, the stay at the Estancia Resort Hotel becomes
even more remarkable.
