THE MANILA MARRIOTT HOTEL: WEEKEND OF STYLE AND ELEGANCE
There’s an invitation to watch a Filipino movie-inspired stage play at the Newport Theater of the Resorts World Manila. We gladly accepted the opportunity and thought that it would be best to search for accommodations within the vicinity to spend the weekend with. Fortunately, we were booked at one of the luxurious hotels within the world-class casino entertainment complex of the Resorts World Manila two days before the show. This will be a weekend of style and elegance – at the Manila Marriott Hotel. A well-planned weekend that came into reality.
Coming
from an official business in Cavite, past noon I was dropped-off at the grand
lobby and reception area of the Marriott Hotel.
I carried a backpack and some personnel at the lobby ushered me directly
to the reception area. Aligned trolleys
and luggage were picked by the bellboy, with owners on queue for their assigned
rooms.
Presenting my identification card, the charming lady receptionist swiftly checked me in and handed down the keycard. And then I went to the executive lounge where my friends are waiting before I settle my things at assigned room. For security reasons, keycard access is limited to the floor of assigned room and the executive lounge for some upgraded rooms, such as ours.
I
shared the Executive Deluxe Room with a Golf View with two of my friends, Jerik and
Rodel. The room is definitely spacious
even with us three. The 36-square meter air-conditioned room provides all the
facilities that you would expect of a five-star hotel. Apart from the 24-hour room service, there is
a complimentary bottled water, coffee maker and tea service, instant hot water,
mini-bar and mini-refrigerator.
For
a very personalized welcome, I saw my name flashed on the 40-inches LCD screen
of our television. That was awesome! The plug-in high tech room was a bonus and
that it comes with a DVD player, where unfortunately, we were not able to bring
a DVD for viewing. But the premium movie
channels on the cable was already a good way to relax while in bed.
The
furniture and furnishings of the room complemented by basic interiors is
conducive for smart travelers. A
comfortable chair with ottoman is positioned in the corner giving a panoramic
view of the Villamor golf
course. For those who would like to work
at all times or write anything, there is a writing desk with ergonomic chair
and electrical outlet positioned beside the television set. Also, the iron and ironing board comes handy
as my friends’ prepare for their outfit on the stage play we are about to
witness. As for me, I lie in bed, too
lazy to iron my clothes.
The spacious bathroom has glass walls coverable by a machine-controlled movable panel. The marble en suite bathroom provides a shower and tub combination, with bath tub having spray jets. The complimentary toiletries were a given, but the room further provides slippers and a bath robe with lighted makeup room (a necessity for some).

EXECUTIVE LOUNGE
If
there is one part of the hotel that I can stay the whole time aside from the
bedroom, it would be the Executive Lounge.
Fortunately, our rooms were upgraded giving us the opportunity to
experience world-class hospitality service at Marriott Manila’s Executive
Lounge.
Not
all guests are given the chance to experience first-hand what it is to sit back
and relax at the Executive Lounge as the same is exclusive to elite members. This is a privilege. Guests are provided full meals with snacks
and cocktails while they await for their flights or any itinerary for the day
to commence.
For
non-members, room upgrade in the amount of PhP3,000.00/person or PhP4,000.00
for 2 persons can give you an access to the Executive Lounge. Breakfast access is for PhP1,000.00,
cocktails for PhP1,500.00 and an all-day access for PhP750.00.
Guests
can avail of membership once they check-in or the same may be applied online
through the hotel’s website. It is
better to ask the receptionist of details on membership registration.
AMENITIES
The
second floor of the hotel houses all the amenities it offers to guests. Spa and Fitness services are the main
offerings of the hotel though free use of fitness, sauna, steam and Jacuzzi are
part of special privileges to select guests.
And we are fortunate to have been extended such privilege.
For
the use of sauna, steam and Jacuzzi, we entered a spacious locker room where
females in the group were separated from males, though rooms and facilities are
the same. Security and privacy are their main concerns. Lockers are indeed spacious and the
toiletries are complete for guests’ use.
We had our things stored in individual lockers and went to the outdoor pool afterwards.
Underwater shots, selfie shots and whatever souvenir shots at the pool is the usual finale of any weekend staycation we have.
The
well-landscaped pool has a mini bar surrounded by palm trees. The lone outdoor activity we had for the
weekend was to swim in the pool under the overcast skies with episodes of
drizzles.
At the lobby lounge, we took comfort while we wait for one another in between itineraries and before we were picked-up for home after check-out.
Interiors are classy and simple yet the number of cushioned seats were a practical comfort. Devoid of huge chandeliers and fixtures, the elegance of its interior design nevertheless is apparent. Being minimalist, the lobby is quite spacious, truly welcoming for whatever number of guests there are.
The
stay at Marriott Hotel Manila was surely a bliss. It was a weekend of style and elegance before
we embark into another work week and back to our individual corporate lives.
