JAMBULUWUK MARLIOBORO BOUTIQUE HOTEL: HOME IN YOGYAKARTA
After this trip, I will be missing the breakfast buffets.
The sentimental (?) persona emerged
as I count the number of days left for me on this epic summer trip. Jambuluwuk Marlioboro Hotel was our home for
the remaining days in Indonesia. And it
was summed-up as a relaxing and sleep-conducive stay.
The daily routine would
encompass a buffet breakfast, back to the room for a short nap, watch
television shows, out for a short stroll then sleep again. The rainy days at Yogyakarta summoned us to
spend more time at the comforts of our room.
The lobby area of the hotel
comes with a purpose. Apart from
relaxation and people-watching, an in-house entertainment serves as part of the
welcoming committee. Java’s traditional
musical ensemble, gamelan, is set-up
at one corner of the hotel adjacent to the entrance door. The instrument is played live and impromptu
by an Indonesian artist which adds charm to the fusion of traditional and
modern interiors.
Booked in a deluxe room, all
the basic facilities that we need are offered.
The room comes with a working area for travelers such as our type and a
relaxed chair for additional comfort. Amenities
include: hairdryer, minibar, 32 inch LCD TV, IDD Telephone, air conditioning,
in-room safe, mineral water, 24-hour room service, coffee or tea maker, a free
wifi and a 24-hour concierge. (click here to check more room types and rates)
The 24-hour room service is
the best service for me. Hotel staff’ were courteous and I must say they did an
excellent job. Since we opted to just
stay at the hotel for the first night after a misguided tour at the city center
and as we were about to succumb to exhaustion, we decided to have our nightlife
spent at our room. We do have a lot of
concerns and requests, and everything was delivered promptly. Drinks for the night was prepared by Carla,
our room bartender. The concoction is
made of rum bought all the way from Kota Kinabalu, Malaysia, milk and
coffee. The outcome? A good night sleep
with the illusion of having consumed a cream-based Irish whiskey.
The unassuming hallways and
the imposing view provided by our room was a perfect treat. Interior design on common areas of the hotel is
plain and simple. The view of Mt. Merapi,
an active volcano and the unique landscape of the city as seen from the floor
where we stay compensates and even comes at par for the simplicity of the
common area.
Mornings at Jambuluwuk Hotel
is a feast. Authentic Indonesian and
international cuisine is offered as part of the complimentary breakfast
buffet. The Jambuluwuk Coffee Shop at
the lobby serves as the rendezvous for breakfast meals and I really enjoyed the
everyday affair of gastronomic treat from the hotel. And I can say that this is the hotel’s
selling point.
Hotel guests were mostly in
large groups as observed. It appears
that the hotel caters to company outings, trainees or participants of a seminar
and varied business meetings aside from a travel with family and friends.
The hotel takes pride on the
fact of being eco-friendly. For
instance, the wood materials used inside the hotel, such as the door panel and
frame, the loose furniture and pool decks are all certified by the Forest
Stewardship Council (FSC).
With the basic amenities and
facilities that this 4-star hotel provides, the stay gives me a feeling of
being at home. Being strategically
located at the center of Marlioboro District, Jambuluwuk Marlioboro Boutique
Hotel is a perfect barracks for discovering Yogyakarta.
