CAFÉ VOILA: AUTHENTIC ASIAN FLAVORS AT YOUR DISPOSAL
I could say that our group are all well-versed and acquainted
with Southeast Asia, ranging from culture, landmarks and most importantly
cuisine. We have been traveling around
Southeast Asia even way before we entered the world of travel blogging.
And in one weekend, the group converged enroute Tagaytay City
for a staycation at Crosswind Resort Suites after several months of
hiatus. And due to distance from the city
proper and the unbearable heat of the summer, we decided to dine at Café Voila,
situated just at the main gate of the hotel.
As soon as we entered the restaurant, the vibrant interior
colors, wooden furniture, ceramics and sculptures were apparent. The colors itself remind us of our colorful escapades
in Southeast Asia and without any expectations set, we were now seated for a
bountiful Asian cuisine.
It was a fun dining experience and we could feel the passion of
the servers in providing us the authentic Asian dining experience that we aim
for.
Our table was filled with the best of Asian culinary masterpiece
as main dishes: Thai Pomelo Salad
(PhP395.00), Homemade Chicken Pork Adobo (PhP425.00), Pork Crackling
(PhP595.00), Satay Sampler (PhP595.00), Café Voi La Chicken Curry (PhP495.00),
Trio of Spring Rolls (PhP395.00) and Café Voi La Pad Thai (PhP595.00).
My favorite was the Vietnamese spring rolls, which reminded me
of its country of origin as I have been a frequent visitor of this country
since 2011. The spring rolls platter
actually consists of a variant from Thailand, Philippines and Vietnam.
The Homemade Chicken Pork Adobo was likewise a standout cuisine,
which I will surely recommend as a must-try.
With a tender chicken and pork meat mixed with a unique blend of
vinegar, garlic and soy sauce, a number of cups of rice was inevitable.
And to complete the dining experience, we were served with the
best-seller Salted Caramel Cheesecake, the
Black Sticky Rice with Mango from
Thailand and a bowl of Gula Melaka in
Coconut Cream and Palm Sugar from Malaysia.
Without a clue, even though the restaurant’s name sounds
Western, it comes as a surprise that authentic (or close to)
Southeast Asian cuisine is within our reach.
We get to wander and acquaint ourselves with our neighboring countries
through the offerings of Café Voila.
