THE STYLISH NEIGHBORHOOD HOTEL OF PENTA HOTEL KOWLOON HONGKONG
With
the booming hospitality industry of Hongkong, it is no wonder why each brand
should project something unique and interesting- something that stays in one’s
memory apart from the experience.
Penta
Hotel Hongkong is one type of luxury hotel that borders into a boutique hostel
vibe with the graffiti and installations that abound not to mention the artsy
feel that one has to imbibe.
EVEN THE SHUTTLE BUS HAS CHARACTER |
From
K11 Art Mall, the World’s First Art Mall, a shuttle bus will pick up its guests
at the basement. And we were in time for
the scheduled departure from the mall to the hotel.
We
were greeted by a marketing executive as soon as we arrived at the Penta
Hotel. As gracious host, he led the
group to the second floor of the hotel where reception area awaits and
consequently, checking-in was done swiftly.
THE RECEPTION AREA |
My Room
Once
I opened the door to my assigned room, I was impressed of how each corner
features an interesting concept. It’s
never dull and boring. True to what the
hotel claims, they have removed the old-fashioned hotel stereotypes in every
single room and created a new standard blend of modernity and laid-back style.
MY ROOM |
The
space of the room was well-utilized and there is no feeling of being cramped
for space. Beside the restroom is the
working station, which I was able to use all throughout my stay, even while the
group converge at my room at night to drink and plan itinerary for the day.
MORNINGS AFTER |
COZY INTERIOR |
Each
room comes with a free Wifi, smartphone docking, LED TV with selected Cable TV
channels, electronic safe, individually-controlled air-conditioning, coffee and
tea-making facilities, hairdryer, bathroom amenities and rain shower head.
I
had a comfortable sleep at the hotel with the aid of the clean and thick
bedsheets and soft mattress. On the
glass window of the room are foams laid, allowing us to comfortably peek at the
beautifully-constructed skyscrapers of the city.
Mornings at Penta Hotel
Recently,
I automatically wake up at around 7 in the morning even without any alarm clock. That is my call-time of my everyday corporate
life. Despite waking up early, I have to
take advantage of the comfort and just lay down in bed as I wait for my companions
to wake up and we go down before the buffet breakfast ends at 10 in the
morning.
In
almost every day, we always arrive at the dining hall at around 9:30 in the
morning. In a matter of thirty minutes,
we roam around the spacious restaurant where divisions have been made for
Western and Asian cuisine. Desserts
where on the far end but definitely a good choice for breakfast, more of a
brunch on our case.
The
selection was good and the noodle section was always a constant go-to for the
mornings at the hotel. The noodle soup
served was more of an Indonesian (bakso). Bakso is a savory soup of noodles and
meatballs garnished with bok choy, wontons and the like. It’s indeed rich in flavor but ordering poses
quite a challenge. You have to get the
good mood of the cook. She communicates
less with the diners and oftentimes deprives her smile, maybe that’s the way
she concentrates.
Pentalounge
The
reception area of the hotel is not what you expect of an ordinary hotel, which
gives you a glimpse of what’s in store for the room interiors and the
amenities. They call it the pentastyle experience – where the
contemporary rustic décor seamlessly blends with whimsical local culture
references.
The
Pentalounge occupies the whole second floor of the hotel. It combines the lobby, reception area, bar
and café together. The seating capacity
is 230 and offers local Hongkong dishes and a variety of comfort foods.
The
hotel also has an outdoor pool. However,
since it’s the start of the winter season, it has been closed.
Overall,
we had a pleasant and memorable stay at Penta Hotel. It was a stylish and comfortable stay worth
every centavo.
