The next twenty four hours was jam-packed and hectic.  We are scheduled to attend the theatrical show House of Dancing Water at the City of Dreams Macau at around eight in the evening.  Before that, fine dining was set for the group at one of Macau’s most luxurious hotels, Four Seasons Hotel Macau at the Cotai Strip.

I arrived early for the time set since Carla and Christian have to wait for Marx, who just arrived from Hongkong on that day on a series of unfortunate events. I was warmly welcomed by the gracious Director of Marketing, Mr. Julius Santos and Ms. Reginia Tam, Director of Public Relations as we wait for the group to be completed.

Smart casual will do as dress code for this fine dining ambiance at the Belcancao Restaurant.  There are four restaurants of the hotel which are equally world-class but we were reserved in a sumptuous buffet spread offering a fusion of western and Southeast Asian cuisine, with main focus on the Asian.


Food

The selection is of a wide range and the most prominent (personal favorites as well) are the fresh seafood produce such as shrimp, mussels, king crab legs, whelks and clams.  Cooking stations are likewise live and I can’t remember how many times I went back to order the lobsters.  Live lobsters serve as an enticing treat for a main course. It’s not every day we get the opportunity to feast on lobsters and so countless orders were done.  It was prepared just at the right tenderness complemented by the creamy butter sauce.

Indian, Japanese and of course Chinese cuisine were a standout as well.  Roasted duck is a given for the Chinese cuisine and I like how it tastes without the distinct taste of being raw unlike other roasted ducks I’ve tasted in mainland China.

If there is one section that completed our dining session, these are the desserts.  It ranges from the traditional Macanese favorites such as the tarts to the rich chocolate creations.  I was particularly amazed of the chocolate cake coated with Ferrero-tasting chocolates named Feuilletine.  If only there was no time constraint, I could have consumed more.

Dinner buffet for this season highlights the different types of premium beef for its daily offerings.  The themed dinner buffet runs from October 6, 2015 until January 5, 2016.  Featuring succulent natural flavors, as well as palate-pleasing textures and tender meat, beef offerings are as follows: wagyu (October 6-November 2); home-aged beef (November 3-30) and foie gras and beef (December 1-January 5).  The buffet is priced at MOP538+ per person (Monday to Thursday) and MOP588+ per person (Friday to Sunday).

Interiors and Ambiance

The restaurant provides the perfect setting for intimate family and friends’ gathering.  Though the hotel is within the Sands Cotai area, known for casinos, this is the only non-casino hotel within the vicinity, which makes privacy of dining within reach.

Interior design is minimalist.  Different sections offering different types of cuisine calls for an interior design apt for the offerings.  Chinese, Indian, Malay, and Japanese cuisine are easily discernable with distinct adornments on each corner.

Service

Apart from the friendly management that I have met, all guests are well-entertained and taken-cared of by the attentive waiting staff.  We have experienced personalized service while dining which makes the experience special and enticing.

For time constraints, it is unfortunate that we have to leave early but one thing is certain though, we did enjoy the food and festive mood without compromising privacy. 

Casual dining at Belcancao is definitely highly recommended for visitors of Macau.
