AMORSOLO MAKATI | RED PLANET PHILIPPINES (FORMERLY TUNE HOTELS)

Three days and two nights.  Despite the respective work commitments and corporate duties we have, the rendezvous that started on a Friday night is an accommodation that redefines the value hotel experience in Asia – Red Planet Philippines.

I woke up one Saturday morning to go to the office dragging myself from the comfortable sleep I had at Red Planet Hotels of Amorsolo, Makati City, formerly known to a number as the Tune Hotels.  With an enhanced quality service, not to mention a budget-saver for a main consideration, the relatively brief respite is what we all need from the daily routine we all have.

My roommate this time is a good friend, Gay, known to the world as “pinay travel junkie”, who just arrived from her stint of travelling and living on just any part of the world.  She’s recently been to Curacao (please pronounce!) and Jamaica.  I checked-in first as she will be late and it was a swift process.  The usual present valid identification card - explain amenities - remind check-out time were a given for these cheerful receptionists.

While waiting for other friends to finish checking-in, I glanced in amusement at the hotels’ interior design – simple and outdoorsy, truly apt for travelers and businessmen combined.  There is a 24-hour photo booth in one corner with a shelf displaying souvenir items such as shirts, caps and the like and an attached small board for pinning post-its of messages and calling cards.  Photos were sent to emails directly as soon as the intended souvenir shots are selected.

The vibe of the reception area is homey.  I remember my stay in Piece Hostel of Kyoto, Japan which has the same feeling of reverie.  For research, business concerns and emails, there are aligned Apple Mac Desktops available as well.  Any basic need that a transient sojourner longs for are definitely addressed.

No wall paper design is the same for each floor.  The group occupied the 5th, 8th and 9th floor (in our case) and every wall paper facing the elevators’ opening is distinct and uniquely conveying Filipino mass transportation images.

The one need that every traveler can’t live without (a majority I suppose) is what Red Planet Philippines delivers exceptionally.  All the rooms have free high-speed Wifi.  Speed is indeed fast and reliable.

The basics are what each room offers and as they say simple yet relevantly delivered.  The air-conditioned room has in-room safes, 32-inch flat screen TV, soothing power showers and custom-made beds with super (overwhelmingly) comfortable linens.  I can stay at the hotel the whole day if only there are telephone lines available in the room for placing order on meals at fast food chains. (check room types and rates)

IN-ROOM SAFE
Situated at the center of the entertainment and business district of Makati, I envisioned myself recking of alcohol and partying until dawn on that Saturday night.  But what actually happened?  I was on the comfort of my bed snoring and recuperating.
