AND SO I FOUND CHEW LOVE

Tacloban City is definitely back to business. The recent opening of the attention-drawer facade of one of the restaurants situated at P. Gomez Street is one of the indications.  A signage conspicuously displayed at the gate of the compound with a building painted in light blue can easily attract every passer-by to visit and dine at Chew Love.

my highschool classmates ready to enter!
The love for food and the owners' aspiration to set-up own business (disregard business of the family corporation) lead to the birth of this newest restaurant cafe.  A place where only positive disposition dwells, with the aim of making the place a rendezvous where friends and families can bond, share laughter and stories while dining, is the very core for Chew Love's existence.

"This is a dream come true for me.", uttered by my friend, the lovely lifestyle blogger Coke Young-Go of Tastes Like Coke, the "over-all operations manager" and one of the owners of the restaurant. The newest restaurant is indeed a product of love, as the same is shared with her husband, a good friend of mine as well.

While waiting for invited travel blogger friends, Coke, together with my classmates had a quick chat on the restaurants' vision as well as the current situation in Tacloban City.  And there are stories attached to every fixture.  Truly inspiring!  Since the restaurant has just opened to the public days ago, then she has to leave us for awhile and attend to the urgent demands at the kitchen while we help ourselves with --- no less than a bottle of beer.

Superb and Refreshing Interior Design.

Coke aspired to be an interior designer.  With the birth of this restaurant, definitely her dreams has been realized with the remarkable interior design that the restaurant has.  The interior design emits a relaxing and soothing ambiance.

One may think that the murals that surrounds are wall papers. Well...NO!  Fine artistry indeed that needs commendation.  The great artistic works of Jolibeth Real-Paleta and Josejale Real deserves a round of applause, don't you think?  These are all hand-painted.

Diners get to experience varied types of dining experience as well.  There are some who needs privacy while others want to mingle with the other diners.  Just look for the perfect spot (unless fully-booked) and you will be given of what you ask for - defining a perfect dining experience like you never left your home.  But no matter what the dining preference is, a smile would be painted on every experience with Chew Love.

Chewed Love

We were joined by travel blogger friends, Sinjin of Libotero and Renz of The Traveling Nomad for a Chew Love dining experience on a Sunday afternoon - a day before the city of Tacloban held its annual fiesta in honor of Senor Sto. Nino.

Owners of the restaurant, of chinese descent, opened their kitchen to the public and shared their dining table to all residents and visitors of the City of Tacloban through the opening of this restaurant.  A number of the food served originated from their ancestors - recipes that have been passed from one generation to another.

Food served are named unconventionally in the menu list yet creatively name recalling.

Love at Pork Sight (Pork Liempo)
Steak to One (Beef burger pattie with rice)
Cheeky Feeling (Boneless Chicken Barbeque)
Be Kare-Ful with my heart (Kare-kare)

Above-mentioned are some of the must-try dishes, which I would definitely chew once I go back to Tacloban.

Other must-try dishes are as follows, which I can personally attest is worth the money and the dining experience.  Kim Yam Pao is my personal favorite.

Hungarian Spag-Hottie
spaghetti in sweet and spicy red sauce loaded with flavorful slices of hungarian sausages that will surely give you some fiery kicks
Kim Yam Pao
a modified version of the good old chinese siopao loved through the years and is an old family recipe

Cheesy Mac Love
own version of the classic macaroni and cheese.  Richness of red tomato + cheesy and creamy white sauce.

Fry Me to the Moon
french fries that comes in a variety of flavors to choose from: plain, sour cream, cheese
Bluer than Blue
blue lemonade with mixes of fresh oranges that would definitely not make you blue

And of course, Chew Love is sensitive to the needs of beer lovers alcoholics on the loose. (haha!) Moderate drinking is of course of prime importance.  Red horse though is not available but who knows in the future. (haha!)

 Over-all Dining Experience

With an excellent service, food and dining hall well-decorated and lit-up, a stay for a number of hours is a no-brainer. Conceptualized and invested by entrepreneurs from Tacloban City, Chew Love is definitely a testament that no matter what we have gone through, with courage, resilience, dedication and love for our hometown, we will stand proud and build an even better Tacloban City.

When in Tacloban City, Chew Love is definitely a highly recommended place for a great gastronomic experience.
