PHILIPPINES TOP 15 TRAVEL BLOGS FOR 2013

by - 7:45 PM

Blogging is one of the most effective medium to reach the world.  In the aspect of traveling, most of us would want to travel without leaving our seats or our computer monitors.  When asked of a list of the best travel blogs in the country for the year 2013, I have to pause, linger and meditate before an answer shall be given.

Of course, it would be at the height of hypocrisy if the random answer would not include your own blog site if your are a travel blogger.  It is your own craft and we have to love it before anyone does. But thinking further, I must say as a newbie in the blogosphere I have to acknowledge that I can't compete with some of the travel blogs that has come in existence for quite a long time.  They have inspired me to travel more and even convinced me to immortalize my travels through the journals and guides made in the form of this travel blog of mine.

In response to Mr. Melo Villareal of OUTOFTOWNBLOG poll on coming up with the cream of the crop on the world of travel blogging, I present my mentors and inspiration on this passion to share what I see of the world through my travels.

OUTOFTOWNBLOG of Mr. Villareal would definitely be part of the list if only he is not the host.  I have been addicted to his travel stories even as of writing.

It was indeed a tough decision to come up with this list considering that I do follow a lot of travel blogs and in one way or another, the unparalleled experience of each one has served as an inspiration.  As a disclaimer, this is a product of consultations and for this matter, I have also consulted my travel buddies and friends before this final list is made.  However, one thing is certain and that is, I felt I have met them personally as I get to know their personality even by just reading their chronicles.
In no particular order.

I admire the writing style of Edcel Suyo of SOLOFLIGHTED.  His passion for traveling is contagious as depicted by his solo shots in a compromising position.  So energetic indeed.

I feel the emotions of Ms,. Chyng Reyes' of NO SPAM, NO VIRUS, NO KIDDIN! as she shares her travel stories.  The sincerity is just so transparent that I am easily moved at how she relays her stories, descriptions of every place visited so concise, which leads me to bookmark the post.

Then, I came to know the next blogger for his quest to visit all the provinces of the Philippines.  I am an avid follower of his adventures and travel stories.  I felt the excitement as he is now left with only one province to visit. (parang teleserye lang)  He is no other than Mervin of PINOYADVENTURISTA

Ron and Monette of FLIPTRAVELS, is my best duo. Their frank and straightforward choice of words when sharing their travel stories catches my attention.  I have followed them at PHL360 and my impression of their type of personalities as I read their blog posts was confirmed.  I like the way they are.  This is with the caveat that I am no psychologist by profession. hehe

Mr. Estan Cabigas of LANGYAW is my favorite when it comes to off-the beaten track.  The way he captures the world through his camera lens is enticing.  I love Cebu and the rich culture, accommodating people and historical landmarks it has, and so his blog site is my steady reference for the province. And even beyond Cebu.

The poetic and great photographer Dennis Dolojan of LOVEMINDANAO is one of my favorite travel bloggers to date.  His chronicles are well-written with pictures that match his one of a kind adventures.  "We fear things we don't understand" - such profound statement of the blog site yet to me is an eye opener of our notions of what Mindanao is.

A picture indeed paints a thousand words.  Honestly, I've interchangeably identified these two bloggers as one over the other. But they are equally good in their crafts.  They are Marcos of AMBOT-AH and Christian of LAKADPILIPINAS

Next on my list is Mr. Dong Ho of  ESKAPO.  I am an avid reader of his adventures both here in the Philippines and abroad.  I started reading his blog due to his Japan series, which is my ultimate dream destination.  His writing style is so concise, perfectly describing the pictures attached to each blog post..

The courage and  burning passion to travel and share her stories to the world is what I admire most of Ms. Gay Emami of PINAYTRAVELJUNKIE. "Pregnancy does not have to mean confinement."-  a statement of a very strong woman who serves as an inspiration to do what you love and do the same at your best.  Her travel stories are likewise well-written, worthy of increased readership.

The choice of accommodations take a large part of every travelers itinerary.  And in the world of blogosphere, who would not know the man who traveled the Philippines in 100 days by setting up hammocks - he is Mr. James Betia of JOURNEYINGJAMES.  His stories inspired a thousand of budget travelers and become a living testament that if you follow your dreams persistently, nothing is impossible.

Speaking of accommodations, the reviews of  Mr. Antonio Carranza Jr. of PUSANGKALYE is my constant reference.  His reviews of the various types of accommodations can in one way or another influence every reader to make it a try, if one is looking for such.  In all his travels, his wife is his constant companion, which I presume is his motivation and inspiration to do what he loves - photography and travel combined.  Hopeless romantic as I am, he made me believe that true love do exist. (haha!)

Then, the likes of hardcore travelers, whom I admire for conquering the world on their own.  They are Ms. Gael Hilotin of THEPINAYSOLOBACKPACKER and Nina Fuentes of JUSTWANDERING.

And on my final list is Mr. Marky Ramone Go of NOMADICEXPERIENCES.  The name itself is truly representative of how Filipinos view travel and he has proven the same (at least for me) through the addicting stories on the road.

Alas, I'm done after a series of revisions and consultations with my travel buddies and friends whose passion for traveling is equally the same as these travel bloggers.

I am their official stalker.  I hope to be able to meet them personally one day and share stories with one another.

The list should actually go on and on, as there are a lot of travel bloggers worthy of commendation. But, the same has to be cut down, otherwise, this post would be infinite.
